MoveTells is a chess style analysis project in beta. Here is the honest, no-fine-print version: what this site collects, why, where it lives, and how to remove it.

What we collect

Waitlist

When you join the beta waitlist: email (required) and, optionally, username, platform and rating band. If you sign up after the quiz, your quiz score and an anonymous run id are attached.

Quiz

Every quiz run is stored anonymously: score and timestamp only. No name, email or username is attached to a run.

Analytics & cookies

Vercel Web Analytics counts anonymised page views and events (quiz start and finish, form submission) — no ad trackers, no cross-site tracking. One functional cookie remembers your language choice.

Why

The waitlist exists for one email — the one saying your card is ready in the beta. The rating band helps us build your comparison field — your peers. No newsletters. We don't sell your data or pass it to anyone beyond the infrastructure the site runs on: Supabase (database) and Vercel (hosting and analytics).

Where the data lives

Waitlist entries and quiz runs live in a Supabase database in the EU (Frankfurt, eu-central-1). The site's public key can only insert rows — the waitlist cannot be read through the site. Only we have access to the database.

See, fix, or delete your data

Write to hello@movetells.com from the same address you left in the form — we'll show you what we store, correct it, or delete it entirely and confirm by reply. This works today, no bureaucracy.

Player cards and opt-out

The legend cards in the quiz are built from officially published tournament games — the public record of chess history. Cards state facts about behaviour at the board: no private life, no diagnoses, no labels. If you are a player and don't want a public profile built from your games, write to hello@movetells.com — we'll remove it.

Beta caveat

The project is in beta: no accounts, no payments yet. When they arrive, this policy will grow with them — and the date at the top of this page will stay honest.
